Whoever put Wilfred's name on this list is most thoughtful! Goodonya!

I well remember the day at Michael Whalen when Wilfred, then 16, collapsed and died running on the track during gym class (the gym teacher - Mr. Panico? - had made him run a second time because he thought Wilfred had not really tried the first time!). It was a shock to us all I think, even for those who didn't know him. (He was in Spring Glen '56.)

He was an only child (his Scot father later said "Ay, we lost the entire brood!) Jim Serio, who died about 10 years ago, visited Mr. and Mrs Mackie regularly for many years afterward and Fred Raban who was a year ahead of us later lived next door to the Mackies on Vinyard Road kept me up to date on them for many years.

Wilfred was a really nice guy. I think of him periodiocally but was surprised and pleased to see that someone else remembered him and put him name on the list.Truly (I think) he was the first among us to go. 53 years is a long time ... I am certain that his parents would take comfort in knowing that he is still remembered.
